I cannot reproduce your problem on Word XP. All I have though is a button
that displays a message box.
I created a template with a button (that displays a message box), then I
create a document from that template by double clicking on it in Explorer,
and I can click on my button as many times as I want, the message is
displayed.

Can you try what I just described so that we can determine if the problem
lies with your template and your code, or with your version of Word itself?

What code are you using behind the InsertFile button?
Is this problem of "not-working-on-second-click" present for all buttons
(You did say you had some buttons to do different things, right?)
What Word version?

Salut!
