Yet another spell check that won't work.

I've read through plenty (34567890) of the posts here and tried some of
the fixes, and yes I've tried the help menu, but I still haven't been
able to successfully fixed this issue.
In an installation of Office XP small business, the Word's spell
checker is not working 'most' of the time. Sometimes the spell check
does work, but inevitably the spell check goes bact to not working. I
have found no discernable pattern yet. When spell check is run it says,
"Spelling and grammer check is complete.", despite the fact there are
many misspelled words. In our office we have many client pc's that
access the same word templates saved on our server.
One user cannot get her spell check to work even though the other users
are using the same templates and their spell check works just fine. The
other users have a mixture of Word 2000, Word 2002, and Word 2003. So
obviously the problem is on the user's pc. BTW the templates are not
protected.
This is what I've found and what I have tried:
1. I have ensured that the settings under Tools>Options>Spelling and
Grammer allow for spell-checking.
2. I have made sure that after doing Ctrl + A, the two checkboxes under
Tools>Language>Set Language are UNchecked. (However there is a bookmark
from when I inserted a date into the templates to be updated
automatically, that is set to not spell check. Could this one bookmark
be influencing the whole doc?)
3. I have used winword.exe /a - BTW that did work but then it went back
to no longer spell checking.
4. I have done a detect & repair.
5. All features are installed so I do not need to add new features.
6. I have redone her normal.dot. Our Normal.dot is a ton of VBA script
in it, and all of our users use the same normal.dot with no spell check
problem.
Of course, a new install of office (or windows) might alleviate the
problem, but that is a last resort. Are their any other settings that I
could look at? Any other suggestions? Help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
