Problems with font size with POD

I recently got a copy of a book I wrote from a POD that had my Word doc
using Times New Roman 12. The printed book is 9" by 6" I didn't
upload my file as a pdf (which I can do) but as a doc file. The fonts
look very small and the top margin is large. How can I remedy this
without having to change the 12 point size and need to reformat the
whole doc by hand?

I'm using 1 inch margins in Word. But it seems to print to a 6 x 9
formatI will need to change the width. What are the suggestions for
this?

Incidently, I did upload the same book as a pdf after this and got 8 x
11 books back from the POD, so this won't solve the problem.
