I must be suffering from consecutive senior moments: I recall but hazily
that all Word versions up to XP will actually install embedded fonts on
the system permanently of the font that is embedded allows it. I don't
have Word XP installed on any system here so I can't check.
I think the Word viewer is based on Word 97. That version also installs
fonts that allow 'installable embedding'.
Perhaps your experience/recollection is greater/clearer.
It is 'intentional' behaviour.
