Sorry, this is the first time I've used Community
Newsgroups. I'm hoping our particular situation might
give clues to others having the same problem. We are using
Word (Office 2000 Professional). The underline position
was fine for 2-3 years until we upgraded to Windows XP
while still using Office 2000. The font, CG Times, was no
longer on the list so we downloaded the font. We have
tried other fonts and it doesn't matter. The underline is
the same in all fonts suitable for our reports. Our
printer is an old workhorse, HP Laserjet 4.
Another noteworthy fact is that the underline always
printed too high, too close to the letters, etc. on other
printers in the office, such as a HP Laser6L, and newer
small Brother printers. Also, there are still instances
where the underline will print in the correct position,
sometimes on page 2 of our reports, but not on page 1.
Sometimes it will be correct on one PC, but not on
another. We are on a small network with a file server and
a print server. All reports are printed on the Laser 4.
Finally, the underline always looks correct on the screen,
even when it prints incorrectly. This is really important
to us, or I wouldn't be spending this much time on the
issue. Would appreciate hearing details of your
situation; maybe there is a common denominator?? It seems
to me it has to be correctable since it does print
correctly some of the time.
