You don't mention:
How many is "a ridiculous amount"? 5%? 100%?
Are the line breaks /paragraph wrapping different (are the same words
on the same lines or?
Do the fonts look larger on the screen or when printed or both? (And
is it an optical illusion for some reason)
Have you measured the line spacing (with a ruler) to see
quantitatively what the differences are?
Have you measured the actual margins?
A few more potential differences to look at:
Detailed Paragraph formatting (inter-paragraph spacing, precise line
spacing (not just "double space"
etc.)
Kerning turned on or off (Word defaults to "off")
Hyphenation settings
Identical widow and orphan control?
Do you have the identical (or nearly so) fonts? For instance, do all
platforms have separate bold and italic fonts or are some artificially
creating those variations?
Check the sizes of the headers and footers; size, where they start, etc.
If the document contains any embedded objects (tables, Excel docs, etc.)
are they formatted identically?
Are some of the printers using built-in fonts and not others?
All Auto-correct functions identical? ("smart quotes" auto-fractions and
superscripts, etc. etc.)
I'm sure that others will come up with still more possibilities!
Hope this helps.
