I know that this has been discussed many times over the years, but I
have yet to see (or saw and have forgotten) a definitive answer.

Fontview contains both of the pangram text strings "The quick brown fox
jumps over the lazy dog" and "Jackdaws love by big sphinx of quartz".

When opened in Fontview, some fonts display one of these, while some
display the other. Under XP, it seems that more of them display the
    Jackdaws string.

What are the criteria for Fontview's choice of pangram? I have found
that if I open a "Jackdaws" font in fontlab and regenerate it, it
becomes a "Quick Brown Fox" font. I don't know if this is unversally true.
