People who work for Microsoft generally don't read these newsgroups or
respond to messages posted here. The only responses your are likely to get
are from your fellow Word users. While they may sympathize, they won't
appreciate the rant.
Which version of Word might you be using now?

You can see where section breaks are by turning that option on in the view
options. Or click the paragraph mark in your toolbar.
You have wasted a lot of time by trying to work with sections without
bothering to learn how they work. Word is a complex piece of software and
perhaps should come with warning labels.
Take a look at the MVP FAQ page on working with sections. (site in sig line)

Again, you are trying to fly a 747, or at least a Beechcraft. You are
frustrated because you know how to land a paper airplane and what can be the
big difference. You are crashing and it hurts. I'm sorry. If you aren't
willing to take the time to learn how to use Word, perhaps you would be
happier using WordPad. Some things are relatively easy to do in Word, but
merging 15 different documents and preserving headers/footers isn't one of
them.
