No disagreement with your advice, just with some of the "dicta." I agree
that frames might be preferable, but I have used fields in text boxes
including merge fields, date fields, and AutoText fields. Reaching them to
force an update is a pain, but they do seem to update upon document creation
from a template. Haven't tried REF fields or even StyleRef.
