Don't give up yet! There must be a way to suppress the bugger! I found
a KB article that gives VBA to make it visible when it's not ("WD2000:
Clipboard Toolbar Does Not Remain Visible" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=224750), so there must be a way to
do the reverse.

In W2007, on the Home Ribbon, Clipboard group, click on the group
selection arrow which opens the Office Clipboard Pane - usually
anchored to the left of the Window. Click the Options button at the

I think there's an option not to show it; there certainly is in Word
2003, but I'm not sure if the process is the same in Word 2000.
FWIW, in Word 2003, at the bottom of the Office Clipboard task pane,
there's an Options button with options that can be deselected to
prevent the thing from *ever* popping up, being displayed on the
Taskbar, etc.

Using Office 2000, and when I do a number of cut & pastes in Word
one after the other a little floating window pops up and shows
each one. Being a somewhat old fashioned guy I prefer to just have
one thing at a time going through the clipboard. I always close
the little window to get it out of the way, but is there a way to

It's a cheeky wee beggar. Seems it's actually a toolbar that only pops
up when there is stuff on the clipboard. I thought I could dock it and
then at least it would be out of the way, but the setting doesn't
stick. Next time I start Word it's gone, only to pop up once more when
I cut or copy, not as a docked toolbar, but as a floating one once
more. And somehow it seems to cleverly know precisely where I am
wanting to work and cunningly appears right in the way. Ah, the
cleverness of modern software. At times when I'm working fact it's a
bit like playing Pacman! (Well, I exadurate a little - but o-n-l-y a
little.)

Yes, I know I can close it with ESC, but as I do that every time t he
moment it pops up I thought I could save myself a minor inconvenience.
Guess I'll just live with it, but I do appreciate the responses and
offered ideas.
