Re: Envelopes

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

HP tech support said this and I am using Vista Home Premium. It seems to me
that Word should be able to print an envelope no matter which printer you
use. I did try to use different font and still nothing. HP tech support even
had me uninstall and reinstall the software. Why does Word have default
settings for handling an envelope anyway? I use to use Office 2003 and
didn't have this problem printing an envelope. And no, other sizes do not
print correctly--just the return address prints. Since the return address
prints then shouldn't the delivery address??

I'd still suspect the printer driver. You haven't said if this is Vista or
if other envelope sizes print correctly? Also try using a different font to
see if that makes any difference.

I select the size of the envelope from within
Word--mailings--envelopes--options. I spoke with a tech support today
for
the printer and he said that since it prints the return address it should
print the delivery address. Are there any settings from within Word that
might affect the delivery address not printing? I.E. font size,
margins,
etc. I am using a HP Photosmart C6180 for the printer. I tried other
size
of envelopes i.e. 4 1/8 x 9 1/2 and still the same issue--no delivery
address
prints but the return address does. I did notice that when I use the
wizard
from Word to set how my envelopes feed into the printer, it said they may
print incorrectly because a change was made to Word's default handling for
envelopes.

Is this specific to this size envelope (i.e. do other envelope sizes
work)?

When you say you set the envelope size in options, do you mean that the
envelope wasn't listed in the paper/envelope list? The paper/envelope
list
is defined by the printer driver so it is possible that your printer
doesn't
support this size of envelope.

You may be able to work around this problem by selecting the nearest
larger
envelope size listed and adjust the margin setting to fool the printer.

Yes I have used this before with Vista. I also did the uninstall and
reinstall of the printer. The printer is new--just bought it in Sept.
2007.

Have you done this under Vista before? I ask because this is usually
the
symptom of a printer driver bug under Vista rather than Word. Try
looking
for an updated printer driver, deleting and reinstalling the printer.

My delivery address will not print out on the envelope but the
return
address will. The envelope size is 3 5/8 by 6 1/2. The envelope
size
has
been set in the options. I have used this size before with no
problems.
I
am using Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student version, with
Windows
Vista
Home Premium.
