If you are running Word freestanding (not starting it from the Works Task
Launcher), you really would be best advised to uninstall the Microsoft Works
Suite Add-in for Word (through Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs).
Clearing the Clipboard and overpopulating menus are only a couple of its
nasty habits. It's also known to dirty Normal.dot and prompt you to save it
every time you close Word (unless you don't have Word set to prompt you, in
which case it saves Normal.dot without asking), and it is also probably the
culprit responsible for saving a document as Normal.dot, with the expected
dire results. You do *not* need the add-in, and you will not lose any
functionality in Works or Word by uninstalling it except the ability to
start Word from Works, to use the Word templates supplied with Works, and to
use a Works database as a mail merge data source or start a Word merge from
within Works.
