Thanks for your comments, Chuck! I waited a while to see how long the problem
persisted, but it seems to have gone away. I'm using a relatively new Microsoft
keyboard, but there a few things I don't like about it, so I might just take
your suggestion.

I'm using Word 2000 and when I type in a document "Children:", the resulting
text inserts a space between, in this example, the "n" and ":" -- "Children :"
The same thing happens when I use a semicolon and type, in this example, " .....
date unknown; place unknown." -- "....date unknown ; place unknown." This does
not happen all the time! Can someone explain why this is happening and what I
can do to eliminate these spaces? Thanks!
Bill
I can't think of anything in Word that could account for this. I sorta
suspect your keyboard. A new one, at least here in Dallas, is less
than $10.
