Note, however, that this setting is not saved in the document. So, if your boss has hidden text set to display, then s/he will see the {XE } entries. When I want to hide the ugly underbelly of Word documents, I usually try to give the recipient a .pdf file.

Sorry, I found it. In Word 2007 click the Office Icon, Select Word
Options, Select the Display Opton, and Uncheck the Hidden Text option.
