Hi Josie,
What version of Word are you using? Are you working inside a drawing canvas or other tool to create the 'diagrams' or just creating
shapes in the body of the Word document?
What are the steps you're using to add the 'reference number' onto the line?
When you say the reference number moves when printing is this with any printer (including printing to PDF or MS Office Document
Imaging) and how far is it 'moving'?

When I draw a vertical or horzizontal line from the drawing toolbar and then
have to insert a reference number [ie: X 3] onto the line all looks well
prior to printing but when it is printed off the reference numbers have moved
- normally to the right - why is this and how do I align the diagrams and text<<

Hi Bob
I am using Word 2000 and work straight onto the body of my word document
using the drawing toolbar and then type a reference number onto a 'drawn'
line or whatever is required. Not tried to print on any other printer but
don't think it will be the printer. Some referene numbers are in place on
the left hand side of the page when printed sometimes - they appear to move
more on the right hand side of the printed page, approx 3 - 4 spaces [to the
left] Hope this may be of assistance. I am not a computer expert !!!! I was
wondering if Word 2000 is ok for this work ?
