This bug has already been reported (by the PPT group months ago), and it was
my impression that the SP was supposed to have fixed it or at least that
there is a hotfix. Ah, here's the hotfix for PPT:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941658/en-us. If there's one for Word, I
haven't run across it.

I can confirm your experience with the Shift key extending the selected
arrow
off the page. Fortunately, to tweak the length without changing the
direction,
you can just drag the endpoint; the direction "snaps" to the current
direction,
so you don't need to press Shift again. However, it does look like a bug,
and
I'll report it.
To select multiple drawing items in Excel (or Word), first go to the right
end
of the Home ribbon and click Find & Select > Select Objects.
