Graphics keep moving randomly when I try to position them

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I have many graphics, text boxes, and tables that I wish to insert and
position in my document using Word 2002. Most of the text is already written.
The default wrapping style for objects is 'top and bottom'. When I attempt to
move them by clicking and dragging, the objects often jump to another place
when I release the mouse. Usually they snap to the top or bottom of the page
but sometimes they jump all the way to another page and often disturb the
format of the rest of the document.

I seem to have even worse luck with tables. There appears to be plenty of
room for the objects on the page (sometimes even a whole page is free) but
Word isn't happy with where I want to put them. Are they too large? Is there
a way to disable Word's auto-formatting to allow free positioning of objects?
I also try selecting or deselecting the boxes for 'move with text' and 'allow
overlap' but this only sometimes works. Please help.
