Try reducing or turning off hardware acceleration in Start | Control Panel | Display | Settings | Advanced | Troubleshoot. If this fixes the problem, then you might want to check the website of the manufacturer of your video card/graphics adapter to see if there is an updated driver available.

I write a lot of manuals for our company. I take screen prints of the software and paste them into a Word document. I did not have trouble with this until I got a new laptop. It has XP.
Now when I open any document with screen prints in it, I cannot see the image. The page will be blank except for the typing. I have to actually click within the image and drag the mouse a little ways before the screen print appears. Then as soon as I start typing below the image, the image disappears again.
It is driving me crazy
