Hi =?Utf-8?B?QmxhY2tjYXQ3MjU=?=,
I am using Word 2002. I create namebadges with Mail Merge. I have to insert aStarting in Word 2002 (or was it 2000?) text in a table cell could flow around a
graphic or two on every badge usually JPEGs. I do this using
Insert->Picture->From File.
graphic. This wasn't possible for Word97. When text flows around a graphic, you
also lose the vertical alignment in the table cell (the text jumps to the top of
the cell).
The only way to turn this off is to make sure the graphic is anchored outside
the cell. So you need to
1. Make sure you can see the anchor when a graphic is selected
(Tools/OPtions/View)
2. Click on each graphic and drag the anchor to a paragraph outside the table
(you'll probably find one below the table)
3. Format the picture to be BEHIND the text
4. LOCK the anchor to that paragraph (Format/Picture/Layout/Advanced/Picture
Position)
5. Drag the picture back into position if moving the anchor also moved the
picture.
In Word 97 I used to be able to make my graphic "free floating" and it would
have no impact on my text in the table. Now in 2002 I cannot figure out how
to keep the text from "jumping" when I insert my graphic. I have tried every
wrapping/formatting/locking anchor/etc. I can find and I CAN'T make this
work. I have resorted to creating my text in on file and the graphics in
another and then running the badges through the printer twice. Not very
efficient.
