Re: Word Pictures and Drawings won't display

Hi T.T.,

Word has always been very hard on graphics card drivers,
being a pretty good way to take them on an 'off road' level
test :)

Keeping accurate display of the constantly fluid
layout, text and graphics in a Word document on screen
can be a more complex job than displaying
just a graphic or even the scenes and animations in many software games.

You may want to try turning down the graphics card acceleration
(right click on the desktop choose Properties=>Display) 2 or more
clicks before starting Word to see if that helps. If so then check
the website for the PC, Caard or chip (Intel) maker for updated
graphics card drivers specific to your configuration. Sometimes
it takes a month or two for the updates to come out.

There appears to be a new round of drivers coming out now in response
to changes that were made in Windows XP's SP2 Service Pack that
affected how the graphics were handled that in turn impacted the
results in MS Word.

Inserted Pictures (.jpg) and Drawing Tool drawings are slow to paint, don't
paint completely or don't paint at all when viewing a .doc file in Word 2003.
Sometimes I can get Pictures to display by using PageUp/PageDown but
scrolling always loses the image. Drawings paint eratically (e.g.
Colour-filled boxes display without the Line perimeter, lines and arrows
don't display, text-boxes lose text etc)
This makes it impossible to use the Drawing Tool effectively.
Has anyone else seen this? Found a solution/ workaround?>>
