Is it showing up in all documents or just in that one document? Another possibility is that it's something in the drawing layer--perhaps in a header or footer. Is it showing up on all pages? Just one?
If you edit the header/footer, does it darken and become selectable?

I tried both but it did not remove the text. There is no bookmark in the
document. Any other idea what it could be?
Thanks

It's a bookmark.
You can go to the Insert > Bookmark dialog, select its name, and click the
Delete button. Alternatively, you can go to Tools > Options > View and
uncheck the box for "Bookmarks"; in that case it will still be in the
document (it doesn't do any harm, and might serve a purpose) but you just
won't see it.
