Re: Where can I find "auto text" in Word 2007. Like Word 97

Hi Susan,

I agree that with all of the changes in the ribbon you can certainly spend a lot of added time looking for what must just be a new
location of a feature on/off switch in the Office 2007 Rabbit[ribbon] warren without any obvious clue or way of knowing/expecting
that feature was just plain taken away (as is the case for Autocomplete suggestion tips).
[actually Autocomplete does have that on/off switch, but using it is the same as flipping a light switch on and off when the light
bulb is burned out <g>]

F3 autocomplete still works, but you just have to know what the entry is that will trigger a building block when you hit F3 (nothing
quite like the experience of having a cover page inserted, or your header/footer suddenly replaced when you 'remember wrong' <g>.

There are 36 separate Document Building Block galleries in Word (in English language standard sets). You can have any of them added
to the Quick Access Toolbar, including just the Autotext one, which may make things a bit simpler.
If you have Word 2003 there is a way using a custom toolbar to have the old style Autotext tiered menu available in Word 2007, but
entries are organized by

Gallery
Category
Alphabetical list

rather than by 'style' name as in past versions.

I am so aggravated by the disappearance of the autocomplete function in Word
2007; not to mention the cumbersome "building blocks" that are so difficult
to use as a replacement for autotext entries that it is faster to just retype
in most cases. Worst of all, you don't know that these features are gone
until you've spent hours and hours trying to find them! >>
