Alternatively, you can fake it by creating a larger table and then removing
the borders for one column of the table; that way, a single table will look
like two tables when the document is printed. (This method was the best that
you could do for Word 97 and earlier, besides placing one of the tables in a
frame.)
Or, you can use Newspaper columns (Format > Columns...)... which is probably
the easiest for this puprpose.
