Re: Index where entries are clickable (links) - can it be done?

I missed that you were talking about a PDF rather than a Word doc, but it
seems like Adobe is working backward in this case!

OK. I just ran a test:

From PDFMaker within Word: At the beginning of the conversion there is a
dialog box that says, “This document may take a substantial time to
convert.
PDFMaker can speed up the conversion by turning off tagging but the PDF
file
so created would not have accessibility features. Do you want PDFMaker to
turn off tagging for this document?”

If I say no (don't turn off tagging), the PDF exhibits the problems I
described in this thread.

If I say yes (turn off tagging), the PDF comes out just as it should, with
all links working.

I guess I should just say no as a matter of course. Right?

Thanks for your help,
Teresa

They *are* clickable, but by default in Word 2002 and above you must use
Ctrl+click to follow the links. If you have ScreenTips enabled, you
should
be seeing a ScreenTip to this effect.

Hi Graham - My TOC's page numbers are not linked ("clickable"). I have
Word
2002 and Acrobat 8. Even my hyperlinks don't work.

I have Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings > Add Bookmarks To Adobe
PDF
checked, but still cannot get links.

Any suggestions? Thanks very much.

If a TOC will work for you, TOCs have clickable page numbers by

I would like to create index in Word 2007 is "clickable" - by
clicking on the
page the index point to that page should be displayed and the
index
word should be highlighted. I think it is a very important
feature
and I know it
is possible in e.g. Adobe FrameMaker but I would like to use
Word.
