Re: WORD MENU

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

If I delete the Data file, that deletes the Default, Settings and Toolbars,
correct. But by saving it, as recommended, I could restore everything and
then perhaps just delete the Settings and Toolbars, right?

Well, my first go around with Regedit didn't work, but I'll try again
tomorrow. I was nervous about deleting, so renamed. That didn't
work, so tomorrow I may just bite the bullet and delete and see what
happens. If I really screw things up, I'll get in touch with the
Geek Squad and see if they can fix it for me. In the mean time, I
think I'll see if I can do what I need to do with my laptop, just so
I can get at least part of this finished. But thanks so much for your
time and patience.

Carolyn,

Follow the instructions for whatever version of Word you have
available on this page:

The alt-v didn't work, nor did the start > run > winword / a. I
don't know
how to do the regedit thing you mentioned. Could you walk me
through that?
If all else fails, I do have the documents saved to a flash drive
and have Word on my laptop. I just hate using that, because
sometimes with these projects, I need the Internet and have trouble
accessing it from the laptop;
it doesn't always connect. That's my next project.

Thanks, Steve.

Try pressing Alt plus v to get the view drop down and see if you
can deselect 'Full Screen'.

You might try shutting down Word, go to 'Start > Run', type
winword /a
and pressing Enter. If that doesn't remedy the problem, you may
have to use
regedit to locate and delete some corrupt registry keys.

For your table question, try holding down the Alt key and pressing
the letter 'a'.

Finding a place to get an answer to my question has been a train
wreck. I've
been trying for 3 days. I hope someone can help me. Either space
aliens
have invaded my computer or I have a mega virus none of my
"guards" can find.
For some reason, the menu bar at the top of the Word page has
disappeared.
This line usually is just above the tool bars ( which also have
vanished).
The selections usually are File, View, Insert, etc. How can I
retrieve this
menu bar? I already have checked and tried all 4 "view" options
at the bottom of the screen. The status bar at the bottom also
is visible, as are
my rulers. I have several major projects in process and this is
slowing
down
tremendously. For example, how to you create a table using just
the keyboard, since you don't have your command icons visible?

Please help!
