Re: how do i edit a document copied from an older windows?

i have installed office 2003 and am still having problems. despite
downloading all the updates, when i try to copy my documents onto a word
document, it wont copy in exactly the same format and then if i do save it in
word, when i later open it, it is not in word but in wordpad, with completely
different format. does anyone understand this and can help? is this because
vista is a complete nightmare like i have heard? (i cannot afford to buy the
new office 2007).

If you had a word processing program on your old computer and have the
installation disc, then you may be able to install it on the new computer.
Otherwise to use Word, you will have to buy it (though there is a working
trial of Office 2007 that will get you started .... for a while until the
trial expires).

everything right itself once the word programme is installed?

Word viewer is not a Word editor. You need Word to edit Word
documents, however recent versions of Works should be able to open
the document directly. Even Wordpad will open it (though will not be
compatible with all aspects of the document).

I need to see if I read your issue correctly. You're trying to edit
a Word document (version not stated) in Works (version not stated).
Is that correct?

i have a word document that i copied from my old computer (windows
2000) to my new computer (windows vista premium) and it wont copy
in exactly the same
format to the works word processor document. when i click on edit
on the original version, the open for editing button is not
highlighted so it wont
work.
