Word viewer is not a Word editor. You need Word to edit Word documents,
however recent versions of Works should be able to open the document
directly. Even Wordpad will open it (though will not be compatible with all
aspects of the document).

I need to see if I read your issue correctly. You're trying to edit
a Word document (version not stated) in Works (version not stated).
Is that correct?

i have a word document that i copied from my old computer (windows
2000) to my new computer (windows vista premium) and it wont copy
in exactly the same
format to the works word processor document. when i click on edit
on the original version, the open for editing button is not
highlighted so it wont
work.
