Re: Is there a way to prevent overwriting a file in Microsoft Word?
No. Be more careful. That's what the prompt is for.
And NEVER save documents directly to removable media such as USB. It's a
sure-fire road to document corruption.

Is there a way to prevent overwriting a file/document in Microsoft Word?
Had
an instance when trying to save document to USB - prompted to overwrite
file
- answered yes when rushed and not really thinking - overwrote finished
draft
with first version. Wondered if "overwriting" feature could be disabled?
Thanks
.
