Hi Vince,
Depending on how well endowed your PC is, you may want to consider using MS Virtual PC to hold the different versions.
http://microsoft.com/virtualpc
The MS Installer sets the file associations, and registry pointers for similar but not identical shared features to the version of
Word you called by starting it. It's a design intention to try to keep from things going 'bang' when you don't expect it. This
happens between say Word 2000 and Word 2003 on the same partition as well.

I'm running 2 versions of Word (03, 07) on the same partition. I placed a
copy of a customized Normal.dot in the templates folder that I configured
when using Word 2003 quite a bit.
Now when I open either version of Word, it either "prepares to install" in
2003 or "configures Office 2007" in 2007.
I thought you could run both versions. Is that not the case. If it is, what
do I need to do to get them to work compatibly?
Thanks
