Re: Can't delete a word document

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

There's probably a lock file causing a problem

If that doesn't clear it and you are unable to reboot the server, you may be
able to delete the file via a DOS window.

I have a user that has a word 2003 document on the server. When he
opens it, it comes up as read only. if you try to make a change, and
save the document, it asks you to save as. If you try to delete the
file itself, it states it is being used by another person or program.

I took ownership of the file and deleted all other permissions that
were associated to the file yet i am still unable to delete the file.
No one has the file open. it is a revision of an important file, so
the file name has to be the same. can anyone help out?
