The information I gave in the original disputed post was on how to add the
Favorites folder to the Places Bar. I realize that this doesn't really offer
much of a solution for those who bemoan the loss of the Add to Favorites
button. I, for one, was glad to see the Favorites folder dropped; because it
indiscriminately displayed *all* Favorites (and mine are almost exclusively
Internet bookmarks), it was useless to me. But I accept that others used it
differently and relied on it. Change is always difficult, especially as we
get older and more set in our ways. <g>

Hi Suzanne,

FWIW, the Places bar in File=>Open in Word 2007 is pretty much the same,
they have done a bit better job in highlighting the
currently selected Place.

1. There is no default 'add to favorites' choice on the toolbar (last
version to have that was 2002).

2. To add an item to the places bar in Word 2007 navigate to the folder
to be added then right click on the places bar and choose
the
'Add' [name of current folder here]
choice.

The default and 'personal' places are still stored in the registry.

This newsgroup is devoted to Word, not Outlook. The article I referenced
describes how to modify the Places Bar in Word 2000, 2002, and 2003; it
does
not apply to Word 2007, nor does it address repair of a Places Bar that
has
been mucked up by installing and uninstalling beta software. The original
question was specifically about Word 2003, and it *does* answer the
question.
