can any one please help me to solve this OCR problem ?
I scanned a set of notes from a book with a Scanner (Cannon Brand) and
the Image Type I set at "Custom" with 300 dpi. and saved the set of
notes as TIFF extension.
Happily, I activated the Microsoft Office Tool > Microsoft Office
Document Imaging (version 2003)
at the Microsoft Office Document Imaging Interface, I selected a
portion of Text and copied it thereafter I open the Microsoft Word
blank document and chose Paste Special and selected the Unformatted
Text option
Upon pasting the scanned text, it came up sort of "garbage" text ? :(
can anyone please guide me on how do I really can get the scanned text
and pasted it into word document and still it is legible and same time
I can do some editing ?

I have a bottom-line Canon scanner that has been used daily and heavily
for nearly three years.
The OCR software that came with the scanner (Omnipage Pro 9.0) exceeds
any MS software by leaps and bounds.
This is the fourth scanner that I've had over a ten year period. The
technology for both scanners and OCR software keeps getting better.
HOWEVER!
There is still a learning curve with scanners (whether images or OCR)
that requires patience and time to use your scanner effectively.
When you scan a text page for OCR, it is not necessary to save the file
as a TIFF, the OCR softwware does this as a temp file and then the
software recognizes each individual charcter.
The efficiency of the charater recignition is dependent upon many
things:
1) Is your scanner glass clean on "BOTH" sides?
a) My Canon was shipped from the factory with a very dirty haze
coating the underside of the glass and was cleaned when removed
from the box.
b) In the event you do extensive scanning I'd suggest every 4-6
weeks, and even more often until you learn not to leave finger
smudges and other items on the glass.
2) Spell Checker Dictionary, coordinate your OCR software with your Word
Dictionary.
3) Quality of both paper and print of document that your scanning.
The above just a few.
A good website for scanning that has existed for more than ten years
(you'll be overwhelmed by the depth and quanity of material, however
every minute you spend comprehending this material will save you days and
weeks later.)
