RE: Word 2003 hangs on save to Network

Check the event viewer when trying to save the document. See if any application is crashing, if yes, then uninstall/fix that and then try saving
the document.

Also, check if you have WebDav on XP system. If webdav requests succeeds Word hangs, if it fails word doesn't hangs.

If none of this helps then you have to take a hang dump and see where actually word is hanging.
This will help to find out what exactly is happening.
