Word 2003 shuts down when restoring from task bar

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

When I have several documents open in Word and move from one program to
another, sometimes when I attempt to return to Word by clicking on the task
bar word attempts to restore but then simply dissapears/shuts down. When I
then reopen Word I am then presented with my documents that have been
"recovered". This is most frustrating as recently inputted text is lost.
Does any one else have this problem?
