Re-registering Word should have fixed its file associations (try it again
then reboot), but if it hasn't, right click a document in Windows Explorer
and select Open With and choose Word. Check the box to always open with
Word. If that doesn't fix it, you will have to edit the DOC file association
from Explorer - tools > folder options > file types > doc.
