copying styles

I have tried, repeatedly, to copy styles from one doc to another without
success. Here is what I do:

Open the document I want to work on.

Tools/Templates and Add Ins/Organizer

In the LEFT panel I close the current doc and open one with the styles I like.

Highlight and hit the COPY button for each style I want.

The new styles are then listed in the RIGHT panel or NORMAL.DOT.

I close the Organizer.

Nothing.

I close the doc and reopen....nothing.

What am I doing wrong?
