Hi Martin,
If you put the image in the document's header or footer, that would make it
harder for users to 'edit' accidentally.
If, instead of inserting the image directly into the document (embedding),
you use an INCLUDEPICTURE or LINK field to insert a link to the image, then
the users can't directly edit the image from within the Word document
(though they could still delete it). Again, putting the field into the
header or footer makes it harder to do this.
Another option might be to put the image into its own section, which you
could protect.
