Hi Beth, thank you for trying to help me.

Were the links set to "Automatic update" in the Edit/Links dialog box.?
Yes

Press Alt + F9 to toggle the field codes. Does the link contain the /a
switch near the end of the field? What is the field name? Is it LINK
Excel.***.8? Yes and Yes

When you used a value of 2 for the Reg hack were you prompted to
update the document at open? Also can you manually update the links?
Yes and Yes
