AutoCorrect entries are stored in .acl files by language. The only reason I
can think of for not being able to see them would be that the language of
the current document was different from the language used to create the
entries, but unless you are inserting the entries in a document in a
different language, I don't see how that could be relevant. It sounds very
bizarre to me, but I suspect that the answer may lie in the existence of
duplicate .acl files, so you might search for those and see what turns up.
You can open these as text files and examine them using the macro available
at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/ExportAutocorrect.htm

Word 2002. I'm not talking AutoText, which I also use. I can open the
Autocorrect menu, but my entries are not in it, it's back to its default
state, with only the entries provided by Microsoft when you install Office
and Word. Yet when I type in a document the autocorrect codes I had (such as
px for playwright, anp for Australian National Playwrights' Centre, etc) the
codes work. They're just not LISTED any longer in the autocorrect menu, and
I had at least a hundred.
