Re: Exporting or Transferring Macros from Word 2007

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Jason,

I could use some help on this issue. I've got a dual boot system with
Windows XP and Vista Enterprise on it. I've got Office 2007 installed on
both operating systems.

I would like to be able to export or transfer all my existing macros from my
Word 2007 program that runs under Windows XP into the Word 2007 program that
runs on Vista. I can't figure out if that's possible to do or how exactly to
do it.

I'd appreciate any step by step help on this.

I have tried taking my normal.dotm file from my Windows XP side of things
and put it into the appropriate folder on my Vista side of things, but Word
2007 in Vista doesn't seem to recognize the normal.dotm file that was
created in Word 2007 under Windows XP.

I don't know why it wouldn't. How does this "doesn't seem to recognize"
manifest itself?

You could always use the File/Export command in the VBA Editor to create
text-based backup files (*.bas, *.cls, etc) of all your projects. Then use
File/Import on the other machine to bring them into VBA projects there.
