Well, I've had a hard time finding a solution to this. Thanks for your suggestion.
What you suggested didn't actually make any difference, but got me on the
path to success. I cleared all files from the Startup folder, this didn't
help. I deleted all the ~*.TMP files, didn't work. I tried loading Word with
the /a switch and the clipboard and this did work - so it implied something
else was loading, as you said, but I couldn't see where or how.
Eventually I found this website
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011514521033.aspx and
followed instructions
On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Security. On the Security
Level tab, set macro security to Medium.
1.. In addition to the previous steps, for Word 2000 and later, do the
following:
2.. On the Trusted Publishers tab, clear the Trust all installed add-ins
and templates check box.
3.. Select each Trusted Publisher in the Issued to column, and then click
Remove.
I then noticed that I had two things happening - Works was indeed trying to
add itself and also my Adobe PDF Writer. I eliminated them both and my
clipboard did work. I re-allowed Adobe and the clipboard still works, so I
am much happier now.
