Blank Space in Insert|Object Menu

Here's a strange one...

When I choose Insert|Object, the first 15 (or more) lines
are blank. If I scroll down, I eventually see the
options to insert pictures, equations, etc. Is there a
way to remove the blank lines?

Happy to provide a screenshot if needed.
