Insert tab - Object dropdown arrow - Text from File.

Not exactly intuitive or obvious, but it's there. If you need it a lot, then right-click Text from file and choose Add to Quick Access Toolbar.

This Word 2007 has no Insert | Text | option. What is missing?

Plus, can the loss of graphic and formatting be addressed or is that simply
a matter of finding the commands listed below?
