Word Document Completely Disappears From My Computer

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

I use Microsoft Word 2003. I've had a document I've been using to make weekly
entries since March, so I had saved the document every week without problems.
Today after I finished writing, I clicked on the save icon and it brought up
a box that said something like "WR.....~" can't be saved, which I believe was
the .TMP file. The document wouldn't let me do anything else, so I clicked
"Retry" a few times, but that didn't help anything, so I clicked on the only
other box which was "Cancel." When I clicked cancel, microsoft word closed
completely and the original file and temp file are completely gone from my
harddrive. It's not in the trash, it doesn't show up in the recovery
management box, and I've searched for it. I've never encountered anything
like this, so I just wondered if anyone else knows the cause to prevent it
from ever happening again, and of course to see if there's some way to find
the file.
