Re: Format Bullets and Number Causes Word 2003 to Crash

Safe mode uses factory default settings, that is, current registry settings
are ignored, and add-ins as well as normal.dot settings are bypassed. In
other words, the fact that Word works in Safe mode indicates an error with
the registry, with normal.dot or with an add-in.

Try the following: Exit Word, delete the ListGalleryPresets key in the
registry. If that doesn't help, exit Word again and try deleting the Data
key in the registry. As a third step, you could try renaming the normal.dot
file.

I cannot format new or existing documents with Format Bullets and Numbers.
This causes Word to stop and send a message to Microsoft. There is no
meaningful message with the error. When I started Word in safe mode,
Format
Bullets and Numbers worked. I tried it again in normal mode after that
and
got the same error. This started just last week. How do I recover?
