You're welcome. :-) I'm glad there is some type of solution for you. I
reported the issue some time ago but so far no word on a fix.
I don't know if this will help, but instead of using "Prompt to Update
Style", I tend to right-click the Style in the Quick Style gallery and then
click "Update Style to match selection". I realize it's not the same but
I've found I like this method better than the prompt method.

Wow! Just Wow!
That fixed it. Will there be a fix for this? I'll live with prompt
turned
off for now but don't like the idea for long term. At least now I can
stop
checking my installations and move on.
Thank you!

I seem to recall a styles bug that would cause Word to switch to Draft
view
after displaying an error message.
Do you have "Prompt to update style" selected in Word Options/Advanced?
(Click the Office Button, click Word Options, then click Advanced). If
so,
deselect it and then try to recreate the error. Does it still occur?

Word version 12, build 6212
Working with a New blank document, entering with default text, then
trying
to use Styles with Live Preview -
after selecting text then moving the mouse left to right over the
default
styles, text changes accordingly. If I then try moving left over the
same
styles, Word stops responding and brings up an error dialog:
"Word has encountered a problem
There is a problem saving the file.
Usually this is because the disk or floppy disk is too small for the
file
or
is full, RAM memory is low, or there is a permission problem with the
drive
the file is being saved to.
If the amount of disk space for a paging file is low, save the file to
another drive. If the RAM memory is low, increase available RAM. If
permissions to the drive do not allow you to save to that drive, save
the
file to another drive or request permissions from the administrator to
save
files to the drive.
Note: This error can also occur if the computer is running a version of
antivirus software that is not compatible with the Microsoft Office
system
or
needs to be updated."
After clicking OK, Word either crashes and exits OR changes to Draft
View.
This does not happen when using Excel or PowerPoint 2007. I am not
trying
to "save" Auto-save is set for every 20 minutes and there is plenty of
virtual ram on top of installed ram. I have closed then reopened the
document clearing my cache and temporary files.
Video is Diamond Radeon (ATI) x1550 Graphics 0x7183, 256mb
Ran Office Diagnostics and everything checked Complete, no solutions
needed
as there were no problems.
For now I am trying to remember to be extra careful when choosing
styles.
If I move the mouse over the style from left to right, if I want to
review
a
previous style I have to move the mouse off the ribbon then secretly
sneak
the mouse to a previous style from under the ribbon moving upwards.
