Help! had office 2007, all was fine. saved docs as office 2003 b/c i
wouldn't have it forever as 2007. Installed licensed 2003 product,
and now all my word documents ever created are being recognized as
notepad. i can open them from within office 2003 but cannot resave
them as word.
If they're .doc files, they are "Word" files, it's just that Windows
Explorer doesn't know about the association between .doc files and the Word
application.
Go to the Start menu's Run box and enter
winword /r
(there's a space between the d and the slash) and click OK. You may not see
anything happen on the screen, but that will re-register Word as the "owner"
of the .doc file type.

I searched all .doc files and it's not just my ... documents, it's also program files.... documents,it will eventually pop up, but it takes forever.... Try searching and deleting all normal.dot files on your c: ... (microsoft.public.office.setup)
