Re: Word 2007 CPU 100% when editing Header/Footer with Track Chang



Sounds like you may have found a bug with legacy compatibility when working from Word 2007. Perhaps Servicepack 1 has resolved the issue.

Yes, it still behaves badly when Track Changes are off. But you response did
force me to look at other issues. Originally I created with document in
native (.docx) 2007 format. After I completed the document I had to
distribute it to other reviewers who had to see it in 2003 (.doc) format.
Since then I have been editing the 2003 (.doc) version. I just found if I
resave the .doc back as .docx then I can edit the headers/footers without the
CPU spike so I have a work around.

I hope this serves as a warning (or reminder) that if you save to the older
version for review by others that you revert back to 2007 format to continue
editing.
