This bug and some similar and equally weird bugs have been submitted and my guess that providing they are 'fixable', we will see them in SP1 which at a guess will be early next year. You'll have to use the workaround for a while yet.

Any news on the status of the bug? Will it be fixed in the next service pack?

I don't know the official/public mechanism for submitting bugs. Note that
bugs often take months or longer to get fixed, unless they are
critical/security related, so I'd plan on using work-arounds.
