But you have only followed a fraction of the suggested fixes in the FAQ. If Word starts in Safe Mode, there is nothing wrong with Word as such: it is something else and that FAQ should find the problem.

Thanks for your advise.... but i have seen this prior to posting this
question. It is not specific to my problem. The problem occurred only after
installing Office 2003 Service Pack 3.
